Things to Do in Ferndale in June

Published 6/10/24

This month, as we welcome summer, celebrate grads and dads, and show our pride, we invite you to explore the unique experiences that the Victorian Village of Ferndale, California, has to offer in June.

Beat the heat. While inland temperatures rise, Ferndale will keep you cool. Our average high temperature in June is 67 degrees Fahrenheit, with an average low of 51 degrees. Ahh…that’s better. Come dine, shop, and stay among Northern California’s coastal redwood forests.

Watch the sunset. Centerville Beach, just five miles from downtown Ferndale, is one of our favorite places to watch the sun go down. The summer solstice on June 20 would be the perfect evening to go!

Say “cheers” to National Dairy Month. Ferndale isn’t just a dreamy getaway—it’s also a real, working dairy town! We have a whole blog post about ways to experience our agricultural heritage for yourself—learn more here.

Celebrate your graduates…. Whether you have loved ones graduating from Ferndale Elementary on June 13, Ferndale High on June 14, or elsewhere, you can find great gifts in Ferndale. Check out the Ring’s Pharmacy party supply sale or call Girlie Girls for a bouquet.

…and Dad. Father’s Day is Sunday, June 16. The dads in your life might love a meal, gift certificate, or hike in Ferndale. Or head off Main Street’s beaten path to Nilsen Co., where all men’s clothing, shoes, and accessories are on sale until the big day.

See live theater. Ferndale Repertory Theatre’s “The PROM” continues through June 16. The North Coast Journal praised the show’s “zany hilarity, incredible performances and technical prowess,” as well as its “deep message” perfect for Pride Month.

Enjoy live music. Check The Boardroom’s social media to hear about their always-popular Thursday night lineups! Tuyas and The Old Steeple also host a steady procession of talented performers (check their pages for schedule updates).

Find a moment of zen. Ferndale’s Hadley Gardens turn two years old this month! Stroll through the native plants and witness the blooming flowers in all their glory, along with a new fountain, the Fern Canyon-esque “living wall,” and, of course, the life-size dollhouse.

Show your LGTBQI+ pride. Ferndale’s fourth annual Pride march and festival are scheduled for Sunday, June 30, starting at The Old Steeple at noon and ending at Firemen’s Park, where you’ll find vendors, food, music, and community.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU TO FERNDALE!
